Black Tuesday: 34 Confirmed Dead On Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway

Thirty-four people have died with many others injured in an accident that happened at 12:15 am Tuesday, on the Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway. 

According to the Elmina Police commander, Superintendent Entsuah Annan, 29 people died on the spot while five (5) others died at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. 

The accident involved two Yutong buses one heading to Takoradi and the other to Accra. 

An eyewitness explained that the red Yutong bus with the registration number GR- 5704-18 traveling from Accra to Takoradi tried to overtake the white Yutong Hyundai bus with the registration number GN-3780-10 and ended up running into it. 

Eleven Females, 20 Males and 3 other children making up a total of 34. 

54 injured are being attended to by doctors at the emergency center of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while those in critical condition and are receiving treatment at the cape coast teaching hospital. Some have been treated and discharged. 

Public Relations Officer of the cape coast teaching hospital,  Mr. Fred Nyankah noted that the staff of the hospital are working hard to save the lives of the remaining survivors.
