Korley Klottey Municipal Swears In 17 Assembly Members

Seventeen members of the Klottey Korley Municpal Assembly have been sworn into office.

The members were made up of 11 elected members and 6 government appointees including 50 unit committee members.

Her Worship Felicia Anane Antwi, supervising Judge, led the members to swear an oath of allegiance, official oath and of secrecy on Thursday, 23rd January, 2020.

Hon. Adjei Tawiah, Municipal Chief Director of Klottey Korley, congratulated the new members on their election and appointment to the Assembly.

He  called on members to work hard and generate revenues to help develop their respective electoral areas and the metropolis at large.

Hon. Zenator Rawlings, Member of Parliament for the constituency, reminded the new Assembly not to lose sight of the important role they play in Ghana's democracy.

She called for selfless and dedicated service from them to project the image of the Assembly and asked members to maintain the dignity of the constituency.

Government appointee, Hon. Francis Ebo Mensah was also sworn in as the new Presiding member for the municipality.

Hon. Ebo Mensah polled 17 votes out of the 18 assembly members present who cast their ballots.

In his acceptance speech, he thanked the Assembly and appealed for unity among them to advance the agenda of the newly created municipality.

He pledged to be guided by the interest of the Assembly in the discharge of his duties.

The ceremony was chaired by the former Mayor of Accra, Hon. Solomon Offei Darko and Special Guest representing the President of the Republic of Ghana was H.E. Dr. Mokowa Blay Adu-Gyamfi, Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission.

Klottey Korley is one the new municipal assemblies carved out of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Assembly two years ago.
