Stop Attacking Dr. Bawumia - Adomako Baafi Tells NDC

A former Director of Communications for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Adomako Baafi has asked Communicators of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop mocking Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia following a committee set up by government to stabilize the cedi.

The NDC is surprised that Dr Bawumia touted as an economic prophet and guru, will not be part of a committee to shore the performance of the cedi.

The FX Development Committee has been set up by the government to, among other responsibilities, complement the efforts of the Bank of Ghana in curbing the poor performance of the cedi against other foreign currencies.

According to a Deputy Finance Minister, Charles Adu Boahen, the Committee will also look at the automation and digitization as a critical enabler of foreign exchange (FX) reforms and would not take over the central bank’s role as managers of the cedi.

The Committee is made up of technocrats from some selected ministries, Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), some banks and is headed by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

"I understand why the NDC is attacking Dr Bawumia . . . the things he said in the past are still relevant today," he said while speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
