Audit Service holds Anniversary Walk

Staff of the Audit Service in Accra on Saturday embarked on a Health Walk organized as part of activities marking the centenary celebration of the Service. The event dubbed 'Accountability Walk' started from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through some principal streets of the capital and ended at the premises of the Service. Mr Richard Quartey, the Acting Auditor-General used the occasion to call on the government to offer the Audit Service the necessary logistics to enable it deliver quality auditing. The participants numbering about 500 walkers bearing placards, with some of them reading, 'Cost effective audit', Quality audit reports' and 'Watchdog of public funds' as they went on the two-hour event. Mr Quartey said the Walk was also organised with the aim of creating healthy living and awareness about the staff of the Service. He said the Service was currently engaged in forensic and IT auditing and would soon go into environmental and procurement audit and asked the general public to take audit reports very seriously.
