I Am The Legitimate Candidate Of The NDC In Effutu - Yankson Roars

The tumultuous times in the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Effutu Constituency are far from over as the party's front keeps tearing apart with each day that passes.

The party's beleaguered parliamentary candidate, Victor Yankson has bared his teeth to elements in the party who are working tirelessly to oust him from his position in favour of one Kofi Annan, a self-styled independent candidate in the constituency.

Speaking on Radio Peace, a community based FM station in Winneba on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, the party's candidate emphatically stated that no amount of machinations would force him to vacate his post since he was duly elected by the party's delegates.

“I am not stepping down today or tomorrow. I was legally elected and I am the legitimate parliamentary candidate for the NDC in Effutu. Our party has a constitution and I went through all the due processes to be elected“ the lawyer fumed on Radio Peace, 88.9.

This has come about as a result of moves by certain characters within the party and in cahoots with James Kofi Annan, trying everything humanly possible to eliminate him for the independent candidate.

It has been one demonstration after another in Effutu as factions of the two gates have hit the streets expressing their fears, trepidations and anger over the developments in the party as far as the Effutu Constituency is concerned.

A group that supports some elements within the NDC in Effutu who also support Kofi Annan poured onto the streets of Winneba to demand the immediate resignation of Lawyer Victor Yankson since, in their estimation, there is no way he can beat Honourable Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin in the race.

A few days after that demonstration, another group loyal to Victor Yankson also hit the streets of Winneba to warn against any moves to replace the party's legitimate candidate. They sent warnings to James Kofi Annan to stay far away from their party with his confused mindset and disruptive moves.
