PWDs Receive Support Items From Korley Klottey Municipal Assembly

Korley Klottey Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region has disbursed 14 deep freezers to Persons with Disability (PWDs) to assist them in their respective businesses and to improve their livelihood.

The items procured by the Assembly form part of the three percent allocation to PWDs from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

After a thorough needs assessment by the Assembly’s Social Welfare Department, the items were procured and distributed to enhance the wellbeing of PWDs, promote their business activities and improve their economic circumstances.

Mr. Nii  Adjei Tawiah, Municipal Chief Executive of KoKMA, speaking at a brief ceremony to disburse the items at the Assembly premises, said the initiative formed part of government’s efforts to assist and empower PWDs to be self-sufficient and to contribute to national development.

He emphasized that the Assembly will continue to introduce initiatives geared towards making them self-sustaining and called on the beneficiaries to put the items to good use to help uplift their standard of living.

Madam Lydia Mensah Bonsu, Head of Social Welfare and Community Development, indicated that the Assembly found it prudent to do the first phase of the disbursement to help them do something for themselves.

She urged them  to receive the items in good faith.

She further called on the unregistered PWDs to register with the Assembly in order to also benefit from the funds.

The beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to the Assembly.
