Akufo-Addo: Im Fine With Alan

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2008 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has debunked claims from critics that he has a conflict with Alan Kyerematen, his closest challenger for the partys flagbearership in the 2008 elections. Those critics who are speculating the false statements are just deceiving you to believe that there is factionalism within the New Patriotic Party, which is false, he added. Nana Akufo-Addo made these comments when he was addressing market group Onipa Hia Mmoa Kuo, as part of their 25th anniversary celebration at the Glory Land Hotel in Accra. He said during the 2008 presidential election the two were busily campaigning, but after he was chosen as the leader they became united again. He continued that the persons peddling the rumours and promoting the perceived factionalism within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are the opposition who only want to create confusion in the mindset of NPP supporters. Didnt you see how peaceful our recent election went, or were there any skirmishes at the congress? This shows how peaceful and mature NPP is in politics and the calibre of persons we have. He urged the women not to listen to whatever critics tell them, but concentrate on how to help the party regain power in 2012. I cannot stop politics or go anywhere without talking about politics. I believe that delegates will choose me again to lead the party in the 2012 elections. I bet you, this time we will not sit relaxed and let the party lose again. We are now ready for the battle towards 2012, so support us, he said to loud cheers from the women. He urged NPP followers to continue to support the party as it heads towards victory in 2012. Nana Addo added, It is my fervent prayer and hope that we all work together to promote peace and harmony within the NPP.
