The witch-hunting agenda by the Atta Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to victimize people perceived to be their enemies at their work places soon after coming into power seems to be going on unabated, and the latest institution to be affected is the Customs, Excise & Preventive Service (CEPS).
The diabolic witch hunting agenda, which has led to many Ghanaians to languish at home unemployed has now found its way to CEPS, leading to mass transfers, the Searchlight newspaper can authoritatively say.
A three page document intelligently intercepted by the Daily Searchlight from a highly credible source indicates that 59 high-ranking staff of CEPS perceived to be sympathizers of the opposition New Patriotic Party, NPP, who are mostly based in Tema have been transferred to remote areas, and their transfer takes effect from April 2, this year.
The document which is dated March 1, 2010, has the signature of one Imuro Farouk Adam, Deputy Commissioner in charge of Administration and Human Resource and also directs the sector commanders to report their assumption of duty, adding that payment of transfer grants will be delayed until funds become available.
Further checks by the Searchlight indicate that the Ministry of Finance initially ordered that there were no funds to pay the transfer grants to the affected, and therefore the exercise should be withheld for a while, but the powers that be at CEPS, for whatever reason defied this order and went ahead with the exercise.
A certain Clearing Agent, name withheld, who is a Deputy Chief of Staff�s cousin is said to be playing a greater role in this exercise. The Agent, according to a source is alleged to be providing information on the political background of the staff to the Commissioner, Imuro Adam, who allegedly quickly sacks or transfers them.
