Editorial: One Too Many

Last week a lawyer from the United Kingdom strayed into the country and made very irresponsible statements to the embarrassment of some of his hosts and the Government of Ghana. This guy who claims to be a Queens Counsel made unverifiable statements and spoke in a manner which is clearly predijudicial to the case of former public officials currently under investigations by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). The Insight is getting alarmed at the rate at which half baked British officials and individuals are pouring into the country and are talking down to Ghanaians. About a month ago the British High Commissioner jumped into the frail and attacked the fundamental pillars of the ideas of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Founder of the state of Ghana. He went on to suggest that Ghana under President John Evans Atta Mills is not investor friendly. Perhaps, it is time to tell these officials and individuals that the days of the colonial empire are over. They must begin to understand that the people of Ghana are a proud people and would not accept the insolence of any people whether they once were at the centre of colonial pillage or not.
