COVID-19 Not Transmitted Through Yam And Maize - Dela Edem Jabs Gov't For Disinfecting Markets
Communication team member of the National Democratic Congress [NDC], Dela Edem, has urged government to research and put up proper measures to curb the COVID-19 outbreak in the country than wanting to beat about the bush concentrating on actions that have nothing to do with the disease at hand.
“ . . How can you go spraying markets for the sake of the COVID-19 outbreak? Stop confusing citizens, because you don’t spray markets with water mixed with chlorine to get rid of COVID-19 . . . coronavirus is not transmitted through the cassava, yam and maize we have in the market or the tables and chairs used in the market,” he said.
Dela Edem during a panel discussion on UTV’s late news mentioned that the need for the NDC’s COVID-19 team came about when the World Health Organization [WHO] after a research on countries that were not prepared for the CODVID-19 pandemic rated Ghana as the first.
"Government has just wasted resources and time claiming it has disinfected markets, a quarterly exercise practiced by assembly members in our various markets; therefore, it is nothing new to compliment government on,” he said.
"Virus is not transmitted through dirt," he argued.
According to him the NDC is working for the betterment of the country so there is nothing wrong if the experts who helped prevent the Ebola outbreak from entering our land some years back are permitted to join the current COVID- 19 team created by government.
