COVID-19: President Thanks Ghanaians For Complying With Lockdown Directive

President Akufo-Addo has commended law abiding Ghanaians for complying with the government’s stay-at-home directive as part of measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

He also commended frontline health workers for their dedication in handling the disease in the country so far.

He said although the restrictions has changed the way of life of people in the affected areas, particularly those in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi, residents in the listed areas have adapted to the situation.

The President who was updating Ghanaians on the country’s efforts in tackling the novel coronavirus in a televised address Sunday evening [April 5,2020] also commended the security services in the country for their handling of the lockdown directive.

He, however, said those who will go overboard of their mandate will be dealt with.

President Akufo-Addo also chastised unpatriotic citizens circulating old videos of security brutalities, and linking them to the lockdown.

He said there is nothing to gain with circulating such fake videos of security brutalities, which are not related to the current lockdown directive.

He said the security apparatus will work to identify the originators of such fake videos.
