COVID-19: I Used Herbal Mix Of "Ginger, Garlic'' & Hot Water Steam - US-based Nurse Recounts How She Recovered

A US-based Ghanaian nurse named Sister Akua, who is a survivor of Coronavirus, says she adopted traditional herbal medication to remedy her situation.

Sister Akua discovered she had contracted COVID-19 after showing symptoms of shortage of breath, acute headaches, diarrhoea, respiratory difficulties among other related symptoms.

Following her condition, she underwent a self-quarantine but transferred it to her kids and husband.
The 38-year old nurse debunked claims that Coronavirus only affects old people and not the youth as she and her 43-year old husband together with her kids are a living testimony that the disease is no respecter of persons, age or position.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show ''Kokrokoo'', she disclosed that she survived the virus infection using a mixture of garlic, ginger and other herbal mix to fight the infection.

According to her, although she took hydrochloroquine and other prescription medicine to boost her immune system, she together with her family was primarily saved by the herbal mix and hot water steam.

"When I was in Ghana, my grandmother would do a herbal medicine in the house for us. She mixes garlic, ginger and other concoctions in a bottle and pours water into it, then allows it to settle for 24 hours. After that, we drink it in the morning, afternoon and evening.

''It did help in the sense that after the third day, instead of having the dry coughs; I started bringing phlegms. Apart from that, I did the hot water steam. That's I boil water and pour it into a bucket, then cover my head with a blanket. I set my timer every 20 minutes for this'', she told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Nana Akua and her family have fully recovered from COVID-19, however, she is still taking her herbal mix to regain her full strength.
