Ayawaso West Wuogon MP Donates Bags Of Rice, Hand Sanitizers & Other Items To Her Constituents

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan on Friday, 17th April 2020, donated 3,000 bags of rice, 500 crates of eggs and 2000 pieces of alcohol based hand sanitizers to churches in her constituency.

The event took place at the Abelemkpe Presbyterian church with some top Christian officials from her constituency witnessing the ceremony.

According to Madam Lydia Alhassan, the kind gesture is aimed to augment the interventions of President Nana Akufo-Addo and further assist the churches to locate and meet the needs of vulnerable members in these trying moments.

She emphasized that her relief items are meant for the needy but not to be distributed on partisan basis.

“You know your members better than I because you represent a lot of the constituents…When I began sharing the items to the constituents, my team and I were struggling to get the people to observe the social distancing protocols. I became alarmed by their actions and felt the need to change the approach. I didn’t want to have a situation where my constituents would risk their lives because of one bag of rice or a bottle of oil. That’s why I decided to change the strategy”, she said.

She added that her next presentation will be to the Muslim community to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

She urged her constituents to adhere to the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 in Ghana, stressing “together we will make Ghana rise again”.
