COVID-19: 'Lockdowns Are Lifted When You Plateau And Descending' - Pratt Chides Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo on Saturday, March 28, announced a lockdown in the Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area.

Three weeks down the line the lockdown was lifted with the President urging Ghanaians to adhere by other measures put in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

However, the decision for President Akufo-Addo to lift the lockdown has been criticized. According to critics Ghana is not yet out of the woods and lifting the lockdown can lead to community spread of the virus.

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr also thinks lifting the lockdown was not a good idea.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr Pratt said the “only reason you lift a lockdown is when you plateau and you’re descending, but our own is always going up”.

Ghana's case count currently stands at 1,550 with 155 recoveries and 11 deaths.
