The Police in Agona Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region have launched a manhunt for a man believed to be in his 30s who is suspected to have defiled a seven-year-old girl.

The girl, a Kindergarten pupil, was on her way to attend to nature's call at a nearby public toilet in the town when the suspect lured her into his room and had sex with her.

According to information gathered, the victim upon reaching home failed to narrate her ordeal to her mother but her mother noticed a change in attitude of her daughter. However, upon examination of her private parts by the mother while they were taking their bath, she realised an enlargement in the little girl’s genital.

Upon continuous questioning and threats, the little girl mentioned one Baba who called her into his room while she was on her way to ease herself and forcibly had sex with her.

Confirmation

Confirming the incident to Graphic Online on Sunday, [May 10, 2020], the Agona Nyakrom District Police Commander, Superintendent Frederick Lumor, indicated that the victim’s mother, Florence Sabah last Friday, May 8, 2020 officially reported the incident to the Nyakrom Police.

He noted that a medical form was issued for the victim to be sent to the Swedru Government Hospital for medical examination to aid in the further investigations and subsequent arrest of the suspect.

He mentioned that the police were awaiting the medical report of the victim to assist the police in their investigations. Meanwhile, the police are making frantic efforts to get the suspect apprehended.
