The Sunyani Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), the Municipality’s markets’ leadership and the Sunyani Traditional Council have reviewed previous directives to strengthen measures against the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The directives take immediate effect from Monday, May 18, 2020, a press statement issued by the Assembly and signed on behalf of Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Municipal Chief Executive and copied the Ghana News Agency announced in Sunyani.

The statement said no truck or any vehicle would be allowed to offload commodities at the Sunyani Coronation Park, which serves as a temporal vegetables and foodstuffs satellite market.

It said the Nana Bosoma market, the location for the Sunyani official market day (Wednesday) has therefore been designated for off-loading of commodities on the following specified days - Mondays: cabbage and fruits, Tuesdays: cassava, plantain, cocoyam, charcoal and fish of all types and Thursdays: tomatoes, garden eggs, pepper and cabbage.

The statement reminded the public that all the previous directives from the Assembly “still holds” and must be observed as such for the well-being of the people.

It stated the Assembly’s Task Force comprising personnel of the Military, Police, Prisons, Immigration, Fire Service and the Bureau of National Investigation has been deployed to ensure adherence to all the directives and other health protocols.

The statement expressed the hope that the measures would strengthen and ensure the observance of social and physical distancing in the quest to stem the COVID-19 pandemic in the Municipality and beyond.
