Vodafone Organizes Maiden Edition of Media Challenge Cup

Telecommunications giant, Vodafone Ghana, has organized the premier edition of the Vodafone Media Challenge Cup, a media invitational football tournament specially organized for the enjoyment and fitness benefit of Media Houses in Ghana. The event took place at the plush Lizzy Sports Complex in East Legon with several media houses invited to win the ultimate trophy including, GTV, METRO TV, etv Ghana, TV 3, Daily Graphic, Business and Financial Times, Radio Gold, Happy Fm, and�Asempa FM. Invited media houses were represented by a 6 man team, supported by their respective colleagues and the Supporters Union of Ghana (SUGA) to cheer them to victory. All teams played at the group stage with B&FT, GTV, Asempa, Radio Gold, and Metro TV going home at the knockout stage. etv Ghana, Happy Fm, Daily Graphic, and Tv3 proceeded to the semi final following which Daily Graphic secured a win with a score of 4-2 against Happy fm. Happy FM and TV3 won second and third place respectively. Awards and prizes including trophies and souvenirs were presented to the winners of the competition while participants were treated to Vodafone souvenirs. According to Carmen Bruce Annan, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone, �Sports is a wonderful tool for overcoming social differences and relieving stress.� It is also a very effective way of keeping fit. Vodafone is very concerned about health issues and�wants to empower Ghana�s Media providing the platform for them to keep fit while interacting with their colleagues. The Media Challenge Cup is a unique opportunity for each Media house to express their inner passion for victory and experience a feeling of personal success and achievement provided by such a big international brand as The Media Challenge cup is one of Vodafone�s several initiatives to promote healthy competition amongst Ghana�s media, promote a�healthy lifestyle amongst Ghanaians and provide a good networking platform for�Ghana�s Media. The tournament, finally, sought to celebrate Vodafone�s ongoing healthy partnership with Ghana�s Media.
