The Accra Mining Network (AMN), an association of mining engineers in Ghana, has elected its new crop of leaders to run the association for the next two-years 2020-2022.
The election was organized through a common email platform, where members voted using their emails.
The 13 Executive members included: Mr Samuel Torkornoo the President; Mr Raymond Kudzawu D’Pherd, first Vice Presidents; Ms Brenda Joyce, Second Vice President; Ms Ellen Korley, General Secretary; and Ms Harriet Naakai Tetteh, and Ms Barbara Mantebea Owusu Konadu as first and second Deputy General Secretary respective.
The others are Ms Yvonne Anokwa, Treasurer; Mr Fedelix Kansake, Deputy Treasurer; and Mr John Koomson, Organizing Secretary; Mr Justice Kwame Amekudzi, Deputy Organizing Secretary; Ms Diana Nkrumah, Financial Secretary; Ms Rosemary Oppong Kwasie, Deputy Financial Secretary; and Mr Edward Nii-Odartey Mills, Executive member.
Mrs Georgette Sekyi Addo, the out-going president, charged the new Executives to lead the association unto greater heights.
She urged the new team to lead advocacy for responsible mining among professionals and ensure community development of mining areas.
Mr Torkornoo, thanked the association for the confidence reposed in the new executive team and called for coordinated efforts to build the association together.
The new President who is a geoscientist and chair of the Exploration Committee of the Ghana Chamber of Mines pledged that the new team would do their best to make sure that the association grows and make a positive impact in the lives of its members and the country.
