World Milk Day: Nutritionist Gives Insight On The Benefits Of Taking In Milk

As the world celebrates the importance of milk as a global food, Founding Member of the Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Helen Nti has educated Ghanaians on the need to take in milk to stay healthy.

Giving an insight on GhanaWeb, she noted that milk; be it breast, skimmed, evaporated, or other types of milk, are generally very nutritious.

Meanwhile, the breast milk, she highlighted, is the best for babies to aid in their growth.

Here are some nutritional benefits of drinking milk:

Calcium

This nutrient is important for the development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth.

Protein

It is for the building and repair of the body.

She explained that “if you have a wound, you need to build the immune system, proteins have its role in helping to build the immune system”.

Vitamin B, B12

This supplement aids in the maintenance of brain function for red blood cells formation. It also helps build our blood level and also prevents anaemia.

Meanwhile, diabetic persons who wish to drink milk can do so but at very moderate rates.
