COVID-19 Restrictions Should Have Remained For A While - Catholic Priest

Director of the Catholic liturgy, sacred music and culture, Rev. Bro. Pius Kweku Agyeman, SVD, has said President Akufo-Addo should have maintained the imposed COVID-19 restrictions for a while instead of easing them last Sunday in his 10th address to the nation.

He said though government leaders with intensed collaboration with experts might have their reasons for easing the restrictions, it could have been maintain for a while.

According to him churches in the country don't have the same doctrines and way of worshipping therefore "broader consultations and extensive education need to be put in place before the ease on public gatherings can be observed".

"With the measures put in place by government, every church in the country must take into consideration three major decisions; pastoral judgement, musical judgement and liturgical /worship judgment, which will as well come with its challenges," he pointed.

The catholic Priest in an interview with UTV's Tweneboah Koduah stressed that this new set-up for churches and mosques will change many ways these institutions practice their worship during and after the COVID-19.
