Did you know there is a Child Abuse Protection Centre at the Child Health Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital?
Well, there is! The centre offers free medical and professional help for all kinds of child abuse cases, including sexual abuse.
On the average the centre sees two cases of child abuse a week and between 150 and 300 cases a year.
The world celebrated World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28. The day is marked to change the social stigma associated with menstruation.
This year’s theme was: “Periods in Pandemic” with the sub-theme of "It's Time for Action". The theme was to highlight how the challenges faced by women during menstruation had worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has been urged to remove the 20 per cent import duty tax and the 12.5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on sanitary products to make it less expensive and accessible to women and girls.
