The Tafo Municipal Assembly is on course to achieving its 2020 revenue target of GH₵1,750,000.00 as it considers additional measures to boost revenue mobilization drive.

The assembly has already collected GH₵1,289,505.63, representing 73.69 per cent for the first half of the year.

Mr. Fred Owusu Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who announced this during the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting, said despite the impressive performance, the Assembly was taking steps to improve revenue generation.

He said the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee had proposed the re-training of revenue collectors especially on proper posting in account ledgers to improve on revenue collection.

The Committee also implored Assembly Members to support revenue collectors in their electoral areas to rake in more revenue to execute the development agenda of the Assembly.

As part of efforts to improve sanitation in the Municipality, the MCE further announced that the Assembly was considering the procurement of at least eight refuse containers to augment the dustbins placed in vantage points, as recommended by the Social Services Sub-Committee.

He said the Assembly would support about 50 citizens to construct household toilet facilities to improve hygiene in beneficiary homes.

On roads, he informed the Assembly that procurement was ongoing for the construction of four kilometers bitumen surfacing at Ahenbronum under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP).

“Apart from the GSCSP project, a total of 8.5 kilometers of roads in the Municipality have also been asphalted by central government, Mr. Obeng stated.

The MCE entreated the Assembly Members to join the COVID-19 campaign by educating people in their respective electoral areas on the need to observe all the safety protocols.

He reminded them that the fight against the deadly virus was a collective effort of all stakeholders, adding that, one confirmed case could put a lot of people at risk.
