Some fathers in the Cape Coast Metropolis have called on society to celebrate men like it does for women all over the country.
According to them, their intense sacrifices and love for their family especially for their children were invaluable compared to women.
Father's Day is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution fathers and father figures make to ensure comfortable lives for their children and families.
Though it is celebrated on different dates worldwide, many countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June.
The GNA in an interview with Mr. Akoto Dickson, a father of two, indicated that Fathers gave their off-springs the opportunity to experience life on earth after which they proudly named them to be identified as their own.
“Appreciate your Dad, forgive him when he faulted, do not speak evil of him, bless his days on earth with you and you will experience great turn around in your life,” he added.
On why some men failed as fathers, Mr. Isaac Addo a father of six explained that, some men were practically irresponsible men.
He said others were deemed irresponsible but that may be due to a myriad of problems they faced. Some have a lot of responsibilities both at home and to extended families, which may be too cumbersome for them to handle.
He noted that fatherhood would have been appealing if women supported their husbands and partners in all areas emotionally and materially.
Mrs. Araba Yawson, a single parent, advised young women to be selective in choosing their partners because there were responsible men out there who will not stress them.
She praised all responsible fathers and asked for God’s blessings for them.
