A Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour says late Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was a ‘strong pillar’ in his party who achieved many for the ‘Elephant Family’ over the years.
 
According to him, ‘Sir John’ as widely known death came as a “shock” to him because they had an unfinished business to execute after their recent meeting.
 
Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ described Sir John as a man of wisdom.
 
“He was blessed with a pearl of native wisdom,” he said.
 
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, reportedly passed away Wednesday evening at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
 
The renowned lawyer-cum-politician died after testing positive for the novel Coronavirus.
 
Sir John reportedly succumbed to complications of the disease while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
 
Until his death, Sir John was the CEO of the Forestry Commission.
