Diaspora Patriots In Ghana Foundation (DPG) Commends The NPP For Successful Primaries

DPG wishes to congratulate the NPP for the very successful conclusion of the Party's Parliamentary Primaries, as well as the smooth acclamation of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as Flagbearer and Running Mate of the Party for the 2020 Elections.

In the just-ended Primaries, 18 first-term and 15 second-term Members of Parliament (MPs), plus 8 other MPs lost their bids for reelection. So, we implore all Parliamentary Candidates to be magnanimous and focused on leading well, in victory.

DPG also associates itself with the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who admonished unsuccessful Parliamentary Candidates to do things which lead to their rapid political comeback, not those which end their political careers.

Further, DPG Members were especially impressed and heartened by the excellent safety protocols observed during the acclamation of Flagbearer and Running Mate ceremony and, wish to see more such observances from all Ghanaians during various congregations.

We wish to take this opportunity to call on all Ghanaians to register to vote. The system envisioned by the Electoral Commission (EC) should be the best and most secure by far, in Ghana's history. So, we encourage enthusiastic participation by our fellow Ghanaians.

We also implore all patriotic Ghanaians to respect and ensure strict border closures, to ensure we don't compromise our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. It is sad to see any tribal insinuations being ascribed to a robust protection of our borders across ALL our border Regions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indeed, all Ghanaians returning to Ghana should come through approved routes and follow a strict 14-day quarantine regime. We especially from the Diaspora Community attest to this fact and ask for no double standards here. This common safety protocol and border closures are ongoing all around the world at the moment and must not be compromised in Ghana to suit any political expediency.
