The Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mame Yaa Aboagye says Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Running Mate will be assessed on her economic competency.

According to her, Dr. Bawumia is a national treasure as his knowledge of economics cannot be underrated.

“Dr. Bawumia has performed very well that no government in its first term under the fourth Republic can match his economic record thus from inflation to interest rates, exchange rate depreciation, social interventions, like Free SHS, job creation, infrastructure, the paperless system in ports and most of the institution, etc. The fact is no government has achieved as much as the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with able Dr. Bawumia leading the economic team”.

She also iterated that the NDC’s Vice Presidential candidate is not the first Ghanaian woman to be selected as a Running Mate in the political history of Ghana.

She, therefore, stressed that Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang poses no threat to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

"As a woman, I commend her for rising to the top and also taking this bold decision to accept the offer as a woman but the value is the same. Irrespective of the competence of the Vice, if the boss is visionless; the Vice contribution will not be felt. Madam, once again welcome to come and continue to cancel teachers allowances and deny schools chalks”, she said

She further appealed to Ghanaians to vote for the competent Akufo-Addo government and not on the basis of gender.
