Arnold Asamoah Baidoo 'Slaps' Counselor Lutterodt Over Rape Comment

Entertainment Analyst, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has vehemently condemned the utterances by Counselor George Lutterodt regarding rape victims.

Mr. George Lutterodt, speaking in an interview on Adom TV minced no words as he boldly stated that every rape victim derives sexual pleasure for the act of rape.

He indicated his personal counseling sessions and researches he's made give credence to his statement that at a point, rape victims tend to enjoy the sex and some even have had orgasms while being raped.

His comments have outraged many Ghanaians with celebrities and some strong voices in the country launching verbal missiles on him.

Actresses Ama K. Abebrese and Juliet Ibrahim have called for his arrest and there is an ongoing campaign to ban him from appearing on TV and radio programmes.

Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison has also condemned the statements by the vociferous Counselor and asked the Ghana Psychology Council to take appropriate action against Mr Lutterodt.

Following the public outcry over his utterances, Counselor Lutterodt speaking on Peace FM's Saturday's ''Entertainment Review'' strategically and partially rendered an apology saying he apologizes for using the word ''every'' instead of some to qualify the rape victims he claims enjoy the act.

He further sought to provide clarifications insisting his statements were based on researches he's made and his encounter with rape victims.

Touching on the issue on the same programme, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo described Mr. Lutterodt's clarifications and apology as bogus.

According to him, rape is a sensitive issue and therefore when a person like the Counselor is making submissions on such an issue, he or she needs to be very circumspect.

But, to him, the Counselor failed to make a distinguished difference on the Adom TV platform where he made his comments.

Arnold Baidoo explained that he (George Lutterodt) generalized the rape victims by consistently placing emphasis on ''every rape victim''.

He asked Mr. Lutterodt to swallow his pride and genuinely apologize to Ghanaians.

“Sometimes, with the work we're doing, we can fault at one point in time. Sometimes, we go off and that's why we should be bold enough to say 'this time around I was off; I apologize' and then we move on. But for you to behave like you're overly a man trying to clarify and defend the thing, for me, I think it's unnecessary. The clarifications you're making are all bogus because we've listened to the tape critically. You made a general statement.

“So, if you need to do a genuine apology, I think you should do it and make it general that you're sorry for the commentary you passed. Don't give any two by four apology and leave,” he stated.
