The Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, has released the medical report detailing the events leading to the death of the wife of the Director of the Ghana Institute of Languages.

A copy of the medical report which has been obtained by Graphic Online, reveals all the medication that was given to Madam Esther Sosuh before her demise.

It will be recalled that the Director of the Ghana Institute of Languages, Dr Emmanuel Kuto had alleged that his wife died after surgery because a doctor at the hospital prescribed the wrong medication.

The management of the hospital has now published its version of events which states that after surgery on a hernia on June 22, 2020, the patient suffered complications after falling in the washroom on June 23, 2020.

The report signed by Dr Nyabenda-Gomwa Gomda says an assessment by doctors and nurses at the medical ward found "an Impression of Pulmonary embolism" and she was "given SC clexane 80mg and put on TED stockings". She was also administered intranasal oxygen.

"On Wednesday morning, 24th June 2020, the patient was seen in bed complaining of severe central chest pain, sweating and restless. The Patient was again examined and a diagnosis of Myocardial infarction was made. A chest Xray, Electrocardiography, D-Dimer, Troponins and 2 were done and Physician Specialist were requested to review her. Anticoagulation was continued.

"Electrocardiography done had features suggestive of Myocardial Infarction. Physician's reviewed with a diagnosis of Myocardial Infarction. Tab Aspirin 300mg, Tab Clopidogrel 300mg, IV omeprazole 40mg, Tab carvedilol 3.125mg and Tab atorvastatin 40mg were started".

The report further states that at 11:45 pm on June 24, 2020, the patient suddenly became severely dyspneic and restless and died minutes later on June 25.

"The night doctors were called to see the patient who they assessed and commenced resuscitation immediately but was unsuccessful and the patient died at 12:10am on the Thursday, 25th June 2020," the report concludes.
