What Makes Nana B Superior To Visit Schools When Parents Can't? - Nana Ofori Owusu

PPP Director of Operations, Nana Ofori Owusu has fired salvos at the National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye.

Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B and his team thronged some Senior High Schools over the weekend to monitor the voters’ registration exercise.

Nana B's action has been met with outrage as some critics lambast him for going to the schools amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and in view of the President’s directive that no parent should visit their school children.

In defending himself, Nana B explained, in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, that “Electoral Commission officials, Political Party representatives, and observer groups were permitted to enter the various Second Cycle institutions during the registration exercise which lasted for just two days”.

"Indeed, just like all other political party representatives and officials of the Electoral Commission, I visited the Senior High Schools with accreditation from the EC as a party official. It is important to note that my actions did not in any way flout laid down rules and regulations governing the exercise," he added.

Contributing to Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' on Monday, Nana Ofori Owusu questioned why Nana B and the NPP supporters could go to the schools when parents cannot visit their school children.

He expressed worry saying "we have party members campaigning at the SHSs speaking to these children . . . They go there with their supporters. Those supporters, have they been tested?"

"I, as a parent, cannot go to the school and if I can't go to the school; what makes another person more superior than I that they can go there and go and talk, and they haven't been tested? We don't know what they're going there with," he fumed.

He further appealed to the government to make bold decisions to safeguard the school children against the spread of the COVID-19.
