Bristol City star Albert Adomah has made himself available for the Ghana national team. Crowned City�s player of the year following a hugely successful first season in Championship football, the 23-year-old Londoner is now setting his sights on representing the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. Adomah signed for former Robins manager Steve Coppell from Barnet last summer, since when his electrifying performances in the English second tier have brought him to the attention of Ghana head coach Goran Stevanovic. Assistant manager Kwasi Appiah made overtures to Adomah through a third party earlier this month, persuading the winger to declare himself for Ghana ahead of England. Adomah, who last week signed a new three-year contract at City, explained: �My mum and Dad and most of my family are from Ghana, so this feels like the right thing to do. �I was born and raised in this country, but I have very close ties with Ghana and this is not just me using a loophole to play international football. �For me, it�s not a matter of choosing Ghana over England � I have dual nationality and passports for both countries. In the end, it was not a difficult decision to make.� Adomah first heard of Ghana�s interest earlier this year and he said: �They sounded me out by speaking to people in this country who knew me. I then had a call from Kwasi Appiah asking me if I would consider making myself available to play for Ghana. �My Ghanaian passport had expired, but I�ve now applied for and received a new one and there is nothing standing in my way.� Yet to be called up by Ghana, Adomah aims to force his way into Stevanovic�s squad ahead of the African Nations Cup in January next year. Ghana became only the third African side to reach the World Cup quarter-finals when losing to Uruguay in a dramatic shoot-out in South Africa last year and Adomah admits he has one eye on the next tournament in Brazil. He said: �These are exciting times for the Ghana national team and I�d love to be involved in that. It is every footballer�s dream to play for his country and I�m no different. It is the ultimate achievement. �The World Cup is still another three years away but, if I�m given the opportunity, I�ll jump at the chance to try and help them qualify.�
