Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic recalled Michael Essien, Kevin Prince Boateng and Opoku Agyemang for next month�s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in Kumasi. The three players are part of the 24-man squad released by the Serbian for the Group I game in Kumasi. Striker Asamoah Gyan, who is suspended for the game against Congo, was included in the squad for him to play in the friendly against South Korea four days later. The trio have not played under Stevanovic since he took over as the coach of the Black Stars at the start of the year. Essien was recalled to the team after he announced his decision to return to the Black Stars following a self-imposed exile. Boateng was suspiciously absent for March�s qualifier against Congo and was excluded from the England friendly despite presenting himself for the game. Agyemang, who excelled for the Black Stars when they reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations last year, has now recovered from an ankle injury. Germany-based midfielder Anthony Annan was included in the team despite struggling with a toe injury which has led to the dip in his form with Chelsea. Three home-based players including two goalkeepers Sammy Adjei of Hearts of Oak and Ernest Sowah of Berekum Chelsea were named in the team. Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey is the only outfield home-based player in the team. In-form Serbia-based striker Prince Tagoe was included in the team as well as his team Dominic Adiyiah. The rest of the squad is largely unchanged. Ghana will enhance its chances of qualifying for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations if they beat Congo.
