The Mount Olivet Methodist Church in Dansoman has adopted new measures of absorbing about five hundred congregants following the Governments directives to help fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Easing the restrictions on the number of congregants to worship at a time in Churches, the Government directed that as from August 1, 2020, churches could worship to full capacity, if all the protocols were in place.

Additionally, the length of worship should be between one to two hours per service.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Very Reverend Isaac Kweku Sam, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Dansoman Circuit, explained that the current capacity of five hundred members per service was a decision taken by the leaders in collaboration with the Church’s medical team to ensure the safety of the congregants.

The Minister said, the Church would extend the number of congregants in due course, adding that, they would adhere to Governments restrictions and protocols to combat the COVID- 19 pandemic.

Mr Emmanuel Calvin Cann, Society Steward of the Mount Olivet Methodist Church, said the Church had provided Veronica buckets with soap and water and sanitizers, which were the basic requirement to stop the spread of COVID-19.

He noted that every congregant is to wear a nose mask and have their temperatures checked before entering the church auditorium.

Mr Cann said the Church was resolute to help combat the disease, whilst ensuring the safety of the congregants.

He said the congregants practice social distancing by sitting apart from each other, adding that the Church’s auditorium was disinfected after every service.
