We'll Get To The Bottom Of Asiedu Nketia's Allegation Of Military Intimidation - Oppong Nkrumah

Minister of Information, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has indicated that the allegation of military intimidation in Banda Constituency by the General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia will be investigated.

the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has alleged in the video circulating on social media that some military officers deployed to maintain peace in the Banda Constituency after fracas which led to the death of one person are rather intimidating the people in the constituency, stopping them from taking part in the registration exercise.

In the video, Asiedu Nketia is seen with many people in busses exchanging words with the military officers on duty, demanding the reason behind the blockage of the road, amidst making phones with someone asking the person to direct the officers on duty to let the people go through the process.

In an interview with JoyNews, the Member of Parliament for Ofuase-Ayirebi Constituency admitted to having seen some videos circulating on social media as they track the proceedings of the final phase of the voters’ registrations about the NDC General Secretary.

He added that the allegation made in the video by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chief Scribe will go unnoticed as the government will investigate the accusations made against the military officers seen in the videos exchanging words with him.

“…but it is one of those issues which needs to be investigated so that we can clarify what is transpiring, where it is taking place and the context within which it is happening”, he assured.

He however encouraged Ghanaians who fit within the bracket of persons eligible to register but are yet to register for their voters’ identification cards to join the ongoing final phase of the registration exercise.

Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, therefore, charged the security agencies deployed to ensure peaceful registration exercise to act as professionally as possible in whatever operations they are handling which may or may not have anything to do with this registration
