Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, National Communications Officer of the NDC Zongo Caucus, has questioned the audacity of the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye to talk about sacrificing for Ghana.

The Speaker, on Tuesday, urged Ghanaians to learn lessons from the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers who laid down their lives for the independence of Ghana.

But according to Alhaji Nasiru, Prof. Mike Oquaye “himself has some questions to answer to Ghanaians when it comes to sacrifice”.

Speaking on UTV’s “Adekye Nsroma”, he noted that although the forefathers of the nation suffered for the country, the focus should not be on only them when celebrating the sacrifices of people, particularly on Founders’ Day.

“If we really want to talk about sacrifice...let us not run away from the fact that a lot has sacrificed and still sacrificing till today. You cannot tell me that the market women who go through a lot to bring foodstuffs into our markets are not sacrificing for this country”, he said.
