National Security Operatives Terrorizing Bui Community - Assembly Man Alleges But NPP Debunks

Amos Nortche Kokoti, the Assemblyman for Bui Constituency says there are some National Security operatives 'terrorizing' residents in the Bui community.

He said even though the issue of voter registration exercise has been resolved, there are some officials wearing black uniforms intimidating people.

Even though he doesn't know on whose authority the officials are operating, he said efforts made to ask the police to intervene have proved futile.

"These officials who are dressed like the officials who stormed Ayawaso West are in the community terrorizing residents . . . they nearly beat up my mother who was going to buy food. People are afraid to come out. Everybody is afraid; people are in their houses . . . the police will be looking on doing nothing," he narrated.

According to Mr Kokoti, those living in his community are Ghanaians and not Ivorians and it is important for them to freely move out.

"This is a very important place; this is where the Bui dam is; these people are not Ivorians; I am shocked (at what is going in the community) . . . there is fear and insecurity in the community," he bemoaned

However, Seth Asare Bediako, NPP Bono Regional Communication Director said the ruling party, NPP has not deployed National Security operatives to the community.

He further condemned the attitude of the NDC and insisted that government beef up security in Banda because the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and other members have made the area a 'hotspot'.
