Atik Mohammed Praises EC Over Sound Registration Exercise

PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for conducting a sound registration exercise across the country.

The registration exercise aimed at compiling a new voters' register is to ensure that ineligible persons do not participate in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Today, August 6th marks the last day for the exercise.

However, the EC has indicated it will conduct a mop-up exercise to give opportunity to Ghanaians who couldn't take part in the main registration exercise.

Making his submissions on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Atik Mohammed complimented the efforts of the Commissioners for seeing to the end of the exercise despite all the attacks on their reputation, challenges and some violent acts that characterized the exercise.

"They've demystified their work. They have showed Ghanaians that their work is not anything to be afraid of and they are working to favour one group of people or one political establishment. They have at every turn shown and demonstrated that they're working for Ghanaians and the country.

"I feel they have vindicated the decision to write new names and with their assurances to Ghanaians, I think they've really lived up to the occasion. So, I commend them . . . This is one of the best processes we've had so far," he said.
