Ex-Prez Mahama Will Fulfill His Promises When Re-elected - Chief Biney

Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Chief Hamilton Biney says former President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama will fulfill all his manifesto promises when he returns to the Presidential seat.

Chief Biney said this while responding to some comments by Local Government Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama regarding Mr. Mahama’s commitment to fulfilling his promises.

Hon. Alima Mahama challenged the former President’s pledge to pay monthly allowances to Assembly members.

“I want to tell you that, John Mahama’s promise to pay Assembly members was in their manifesto in the 2012 elections but he didn’t do anything about it. Now, they have no argument against the bravest performance in decentralization and local development; so they are now promising ‘rooftop promises’ that they cannot offer.”

But to Chief Biney, Mr. Mahama is more than ready to honor his words.

“Nothing is impossible if we decide and determined to do it. If Parliamentarians are paid, why not the Assembly members who work tirelessly to maintain close contact with the electoral area, consult the people and collect their views, opinions, and proposals on issues to be discussed in the District Assembly. Why can’t we pay them monthly allowances to motivate them.

“It is about time we restructure everything so that the Assembly members can equally receive salaries through the MMDCEs Common Fund. President Mahama has done it before and is still capable of doing it so all he is asking for is the chance to prove his capability,” he said on UTV’s late News.
