Show Leadership By Example; Obey COVID-19 Protocols - Mahama Told

Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah has called on former President Mahama to exhibit exemplary leadership in the fight against the Covid-19 disease.

According to him, the former President who doubles as the Flagbearer of the opposition NDC, must be conscious of the virus by observing protocols himself to help curb its spread.

“We need to be disciplined and conscious of our health by observing the social distance and all other protocols because the coronavirus is still with us,” he said.

Speaking on UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' programme, Collins Owusu Amankwah also expressed worry over the way former President Mahama was welcomed to the Odododiodoo constituency saying, “even though the President has declared no rally ahead of 2020 election but notwithstanding, there will be some one on one campaign. Therefore, it is encumbered on us to observe all protocols to help save lives. Mr. Mahama at Odododiodoo Constituency failed to observe the Covid-19 protocols. My worry is the way people came around him as if nothing was at stake; meanwhile the virus is still with us”.

“The level of indiscipline is too much, we must all think about Ghana first. The virus is not a respecter of one’s political affiliation; we are all at risk so talk to your footsoliders to observe all protocols. It is not right. The way Mahama was hugging and greeting the old women knowing very well how risky and vulnerable they are to the virus, he was supposed to show leadership by example for his followers to follow," he said.

He further appealed to all political parties to educate their footsoldiers on the COVID-19.
