First Lady Commissions Moree Community Library In C/R

First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has commissioned Moree Community library and ICT Center in Moree community at Abura Asebu Kwamamkese in the Central Region as part of her Rebecca Foundation Initiative.

The First Lady's donation is aimed at improving studies in the community.

She explained that the 40-seater computerised library built by her foundation will enable the residents, especially children, in the community and its environs to access quality information and also help turn them into great future leaders.

"When a child's ability to read and write is enhanced, the learning outcomes and success at their academic achievements are also greatly improved," she said.

"On 25th October, 2018, the Rebecca foundation's learning to read, reading to learn initiative was launched to improve literacy in children between the age 6 to 15. Under this initiative libraries in clusters of schools were built across the country and also a broadcast of television reading programme that is currently ongoing and is in its 2nd season was initiated," she added.

She also interacted with the queen mothers, market women and other women groups in the community.

The First Lady was accompanied by the Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan and his Deputy, MMDCEs, Regional health and Education Directors as well as party faithfuls.

The Central Regional Minister thanked the First Lady for her kind gesture and urged school children in the Region to take advantage of it to acquire knowledge.
