Intensify House-To-House Campaign - Osafo-Maafo Challenges NPP

The Senior Minister, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, has stressed the need for functionaries and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intensify their house-to-house campaigns for the party to retain political power in the December 7, 2020, general election.

He said since the COVID-19 pandemic could not allow political parties to hold massive political rallies, the only alternative was for the members to move from house to house to educate the electorate on the need to retain the NPP in power in the upcoming general election.

Mr Osafo-Maafo, who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, made the call at the inauguration of a 27-member election campaign committee for the Oda Constituency of the NPP in Oda last Thursday.

He stressed that the longer the NPP stayed in power, the more opportunities the various communities could benefit from the government in terms of the provision of quality development projects.

Social interventions

According to Mr. Osafo-Maafo, the NPP was the only political party that had initiated many social interventions for the country, unlike its political opponent which always misused the gains produced by the former.

He commended the MP for Oda, Mr. William Agyapong Quaittoo, for rallying behind Mr. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, who defeated him in the recent NPP primaries, in his campaign in order for the party to retain the Parliamentary seat on December 7, 2020.

The senior minister urged the supporters of both politicians to take a cue from them and bury their differences as elections were won with numbers.

Regional youth organiser

The Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, Mr. Jerry Osei-Poku, urged members of the campaign committee to strive hard to achieve their new target of 80 per cent votes set for them in the upcoming general election, which was four per cent higher than the 76 per cent the constituency won in 2016.

He said in order to achieve their target, the campaign team should not sit aloof but should involve other members of the party and also devise very effective campaign strategies.

Mr Osei-Poku admonished the Oda Constituency to strive to maintain its proud record of being one of the five strongholds of the NPP in the Eastern Region.

Director of operations

The Director of Operations at the Office of the Vice-President, Alhaji Ismaela Ibrahim, who is a member of the campaign team, emphasised that with the reconciliation between Mr. Quaittoo and Mr. Acquah, the NPP would achieve a resounding victory in the upcoming general election.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central, Ms. Victoria Adu, was full of praise for President Akufo-Addo for providing the municipality with many development projects and urged the electorate to reciprocate the gesture by voting massively for him and all his parliamentary candidates come December 7, 2020.

Parliamentary candidate

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Akyem Oda, Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, who is the Chairman of the election campaign committee, enjoined all and sundry to assist the team to achieve its objective of obtaining the set target of 80 per cent in the December 7, 2020 polls.
