The 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Yendi Constituency, Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, over the weekend, distributed some examination materials including over 5,000 mathematical sets to his constituents who are writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to support them in the exams.

He also urged the candidates in the 42 basic schools in Yendi and indeed all the students writing the 2020 BECE exams across the country to make their parents/guardians and country proud by passing their papers and coming out with the best of results to enable them further their education.

Speaking at a short event to donate the items at the Yendi SHS, Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of the Late Vice President of the Republic, said, the government of H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has done its part in creating the necessary ambience and providing the needed support to the candidates for them to excel in the exams even in the midst of Covid.

“The onus is now on you [the students] to justify and vindicate the investments that have been made in you by your parents and the government, so that you can proceed to become the next beneficiaries of President Akufo-Addo’s award winning Free SHS policy”, he posited.

Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, who is also the Deputy Procurement Manager at the Ghana COCOBOD, wished the students the best of luck in the exams and admonished them to eschew all forms of examination malpractices and abide strictly by the rules of engagements.

He also expressed optimism that notwithstanding the possible psychological impact of the novel coronavirus on the students, they will, conscious of the huge expectations from them, defy the odds and rise to the occasion in order to purse their career dreams and aspirations through education.

“Even though, this is not the best time to write a critical exit examination like BECE owing to the Covid-19 outbreak and its possible psychological effects, I am confident and hopeful that you will defy these odds and make your parents and country proud”, he concluded his remarks.
