Stop Leakage Of Documents - Head of the Local Govt Service To Civil Servants

The Head of the Local Government Service (LGS), Dr Nana Ato Arthur, has cautioned public and civil servants to desist from leaking official documents to politicians.

He said the practice, which was on the increase, was not only wrong but also illegal, and threatened to deal drastically with any public or civil servant caught in the act.

Dr Arthur gave the caution when he interacted with LGS staff and heads of departments in the Bosomtwe District at Kuntunase in the Ashanti Region last Friday.

He said measures were being put in place to ensure that such leaked documents could easily be traced and the culprits duly sanctioned to deter others from indulging in the act.

Commendation

Dr Arthur lauded the Bosomtwe District for the state of development in the area.

He, however, expressed concern over lateness to work by some staff of the assembly and urged them to change their attitude towards work to justify the payment of their salaries.

He said in 2017, all assemblies were asked to procure biometric clocking machines to record reporting and departure times of their staff, but they were made to stop the use of the machines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He, however, said the use of the devices would begin across the country in January 2021 to check the reporting and closing times of all assembly staff.

Dr Arthur said heads of departments who did not enforce compliance would be dealt with in accordance with the service punitive measures.

Appreciation

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Mr Joseph Kwasi Asuming, described the visit by Dr Arthur as historic.

He apprised Dr Arthur of the state of projects and other development activities by the district since 2017 and pledged the readiness of staff to continue working hard to enhance the well-being of the people in the area.

He further assured the Head of the LGS that the assembly would ensure that its staff reported to work on time and stayed till the appropriate closing time.
