Ghana FA Orders Ajax To Release Injured Mohammed Kudus For Medical Assessment

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ordered Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam to release prodigy Mohammed Kudus to join the Black Stars in Turkey on Monday for independent medical assessment.

The move by the GFA is meant to independently ascertain the extent of injury to the talented midfielder before deciding whether to he is ruled out of next week's friendlies against Mali and Qatar.

Kudus is reported by Ajax to have picked up an injury in training last Thursday and therefore ruled out of the friendly matches against Mali and Qatar.

The 20-year-old sat out Sunday's Eredivisie clash against Groningen due to his injury setback.

By FIFA law, clubs are required to release their player to be independently checked by national teams if there are doubts over injuries suffered while playing for the clubs.

Ghanasoccernet.com insiders say Ajax have not been forthcoming with information to the Ghana medical team over the injury of the gifted player which prompted the decision to call for an independent medical assessment.

''The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder is a doubt for the games, but the GFA is insisting that he travels to Turkey on Tuesday for assessment,'' the Ghana FA said in a statement on Sunday night.

''The former Right to Dream Academy man was left out of the Ajax squad for Sunday’s Dutch League game against FC Groningen after sustaining an injury in training on Thursday.''

The GFA looks to have been forced into the decision of seeking further medical assessment over Kudus' injury because of the lack of cooperation from the medical team of Ajax.

Some European clubs in the past have been accused of being reluctant in releasing their players for national team matches for the fear of getting injured.

Some have even been accused of faking injuries to players just to get them to avoid playing for their countries. This is not to suggest that Ajax have done the same.

Kudus has made a bright start to his campaign at Ajax with explosive performances which has resulted in him being name in the Team of the Match in his first month in the Dutch top-flight.

In his last match, he provided the assist for the match-winner in the 2-1 success over Vitesse.
