GFA Technical Director Lippert Bemoans 'Too New Many Faces' In Humiliating Mali Defeat

Ghana Football Association (GFA)'s new technical director Bernhard Lippert says too many new players in the Black Stars starting line-up led to the humiliating defeat to Mali on Friday night.

The German tactician also said the senior national team played with no compactness insisting it led to the Eagles taking advantage of that Black Stars shortcoming to inflict the big defeat.

Ghana were hammered 3-0 loss by their West African neighbours at the Emir Hotel Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey in a international friendly.

This has led to serious criticism of the team and its coach Chalres Akonnor who was in charge of the squad for the first time.

The German trainer who is in Turkey to monitor and evaluate the Black Stars' performance in the two friendlies says too many new players and lack of compactness in the game contributed to the heavy defeat to Mali.

CK Akonnor and his men will take on Qatar on Monday at the same venue in a second friendly encounter.

"In the first game against Mali you could see there were too many new players invited," he told Nhyira FM in an interview.

"The players couldn't find the connection to each other and no compactness in the match and that was the reason we couldn't play successfully in my opinion."

The Ghana Football Association confirmed the appointment of Lippert as the new technical director on a two-year contract six days ago.

The Black Stars were forced to make changes to the squad at the last minute with about four players facing visa problems.

Ajax Amsterdam refused to release youngster Mohammed Kudus but some new players were given the chance to impress coach Akonnor and some of them did not live up to expectation.
