Guardiola's Most Used Player Ever: Raheem Sterling On Course To Surpass Messi

Manchester City star, Raheem Sterling is set to become Pep Guardiola’s most used player ever. Guardiola, one of the world's best coaches has managed some of the world’s greatest players as a manager of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City, coaching the likes of Yaya Toure, Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Lewandowski, Frank Ribery, Sergio Aguero and Iniesta.

English player Sterling, has worked with Guardiola for four years at Manchester City and even though Messi is currently Guardiola’s most used player with 219 appearances, Sterling is closing up with 201 appearances.

49-year-old Guardiola has rotated Riyad Mahrez, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden over the years, but Sterling always keeps his starting place on the left or right wing.

With just 18 appearances needed to catch Messi, Sterling is very likely to surpass him this season.

Back in July, Guardiola backed Sterling to get better with his skills.

“Every player can get better, every team can get better, every manager can get better. He has this mentality to do it,” he said.
