Election 2020: EC And NPP 'Plotted' Our Disqualification – UPP Chair

Acting National Chairman of the United Progressive Party, Mr. Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah, says the Electoral Commission (EC) deliberately disqualified its flagbearer from contesting the 2020 presidential polls.

He said the reasons given by the Commission’s Chairperson for the disqualification are “frivolous and meditative” to distract the party.

The Electoral Commission on Monday, October 19, 2020, disqualified five Presidential aspirants from the 7th December 2020 polls.

They include independent aspirant, Marricke Gane; Akwasi Addae Odike of the UPP, Kwesi Busumuru of the Popular Action Party, Nana Agyenim Boateng of the UFP, and Kofi Koranteng, an independent aspirant.

According to the EC, the five presented “fake signatures” to the commission, hence, the reason for their debarment.

But Mr. Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie', said the Commission never gave his party the chance to rectify their mistakes despite the EC saying that such opportunity was given to all parties.

“They [EC] never called any of us to even come to them to correct our mistakes. This is an agenda by the EC and NPP to discredit our party,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.
