Citizen Eye Ghana Condemns NDC, NPP Odododiodoo Clash

Non-Governmental Organization ‘Citizen Eye Ghana’ (CITEG) has strongly condemned a recent clash between some supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in James Town.

The CEO of the group, Mr. Alex Kweku Tetteh said the incident was “unfortunate” after calling on both political parties to condemn the act.

“This is not acceptable. The NDC MP in the area and the NPP parliamentary candidate in the area must speak against any form of violence ahead of the December 7, election,” he told Peacefmonline.com in an interview.

His comment comes on the back of violent clashes between the supporters of Nii Lante Bannerman, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, and that of Nii Lantey Vanderpuye who is the incumbent MP seeking re-election on the ticket of the NDC.

Supporters on each side could be seen hurling crude weapons at their opponents in the fierce clashes just six weeks from this year’s general elections - people got injured in the disturbances.

However, the police is investigating the matter.
