A Good Job And Good Salary Better Than NPP's Rental Scheme - NDC Youth Organizer

The National Youth Organiser of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has insisted that what Ghanaian youth need most is a good job with a lucrative salary and not rent allowance from government.

George Opare Addo who is against NPP’s promise to provide rent allowance for Ghanaians urged the masses to be vigilant and not allow the Akufo-Addo led administration to throw dust into their eyes.

“If you have a good job and a good salary, you wouldn’t wait for government to pay your rent for you,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

His comment comes after the former Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, at a press conference said the next NPP administration will provide rent allowance.

Nana Akomea said government will bear the cost directly and make advanced payments to landlords and take monthly payments from the youth.

But Mr. Opare Addo claims the promise is not feasible.

Next NPP government to pump ¢100m into National Rental Allowance Scheme

Government has promised to set aside $100 million as a seed into a new National Rental Assistance Scheme (NRAS), it intends to set up to address accommodation problem if it is voted in power come December 2020.

Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch in Cape Coast, the Vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the NPP will pay a lot of attention on the housing sector in their next term.

The scheme, according to the Vice President, will serve as a loan allowance for payment of rents to bridge the gap between tenants and landlords.
