Focus on Vulnerable Children Too - Will Lathrop Urges NDC, NPP @ Launch Of FaBCA

Mr. Will Lathrop Country Director of International Justice Mission (IJM) has bemoaned the fact that none of the manifestoes of the various political parties had any policy for vulnerable children.

Speaking at the launch of FaBCA and an exhibition show, Saturday, he said: "There's nothing to take care of children being trafficked or children in need; no plan to take care of that . . . I don't care about NDC or NPP but about who cares for vulnerable children. There are all things being said (in the manifestoes) but none of the policies are for vulnerable children".

50 children rescued in 30 days

Mr. Lathrop indicated that his organization in collaboration with other security agencies were able to rescue 50 children being trafficked in the last 30 days.

The moving part is that one of those children, an eight-year-old boy was critically ill and could have died had he not been rescued.

Meanwhile, the traffickers have been arrested and are facing prosecution.

FaBCA

Family Based Care Alliance ( FaBCA ) was established to raise awareness about moving orphans and vulnerable children from orphanages into foster care and actual homes where they can thrive. FaBCA is a movement of Christ-centered individuals and Faith-Based and non-governmental organizations who support this vision.

The theme for the event was 'Be the light' (Matthew 5:16) and it was chaired by Mr. Sam Okudzeto, former president of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA).

The Stand Weekend Event was climaxed on 8th November, by the observation of Orphan Sunday in churches nationwide. This was followed in the evening by a musical concert which featured the Preachers, Noble Nketsia, Eugene Zuta and Japhet Adjetey.
