Wontumi Takes Over Kumasi Streets As Hundreds Scramble For NPP Paraphernalia

Scores of traders and shop attendants at the new Kejetia and Central Markets on Tuesday morning mobbed the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as he stormed the arena to campaign for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

As early as 9 am, Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako who was seated in a Toyota Pick-up truck stormed the two adjoining markets in grand style. 

Sharing t-shirts and anti-COVID-19 items such as hand sanitizers and nose masks while seated on top of the van, the regional chairman caught the attention of the traders for 3 hours.

Later at a meeting with market leaders at the Kejetia arena, Chairman Wontumi asked that they take charge of the campaign at the markets since they were witnesses to the good works of the President. 

Cataloging the achievements of the New Patriotic Party, Chairman Wontumi said the NPP has delivered on the promises it made to the Ghanaian people in 2016. 

He said but for the free Senior High School policy, many parents would have struggled to take their kids to SHS.

He said the introduction of the one district one factory policy was also a way to create jobs for the unemployed in the country. 

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCo), Chairman Wontumi noted has also been implemented to give opportunities to persons who had completed tertiary education but we're without jobs.

Planting for food and jobs policy, the regional chairman stressed had brought so much food to the markets of the country and had also created jobs for people who had the desire to work on farms.

Accompanied by the regional women's organiser, Nana Ama Ampomah and the regional organiser, Francis Adomako as well as the Youth Employment Agency Chief Executive, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the regional chairman took time to educate the traders on how to cast their ballots on December 7.

Nana Akwasi Prempeh, speaking on behalf of Kejetia Traders and Market leaders expressed appreciation to the NPP for finding them worthy to be visited.

He urged the team to conduct their campaign in the arena anytime they want.

Theirs, he noted is to see a peaceful atmosphere to conduct their business in the market arena.

He called on leaders to ensure the markets are given adequate security and protection at all times so as to make their trading activities incident-free.
